GOOD NIGHT, MARKET NIGHT!!!!

On the 29th of November we had a new annual activity called MARKET NIGHT! This is just all about making stuff good enough to sell to other people. My stall was full of games and different activities like office basketball game where you throw a ping pong ball in to a hoop, Magneto fishing where you try to fish fish in a 30 second slot and the crowds favourite POTTY TOSS were you try to throw a squishy poop toy into a cardboard box shaped toilet then you win a ticket like all the other games.

My class also sold scrunchies, Toffee apples, Flax star magnets, Art cards and Cookie jars.

My favourite part of market night was seeing all of the joy on the peoples faces!!  

ACTION WORLD!!!!!!

ACTION WORLD!!!!!!!

On Monday the 2nd of December 2019 Manuka, Kauri and Puriri class went to Paihia to go to ACTION WORLD! It has the biggest inflatable slide in the world as it says, it also has giant trapeze and a crazy ladder that wobbles all over the place when you climb up it. Our instructor name was Rory so a big thanks to him for taking group 3 (my group) around to each activity. This day was a really fun way to get out of school with friends and family.

My favourite activities were the Mini golf with 18 holes, the CRAZY LADDER and the Water slide!!!!

The -activities that I found hard was the giant slide, the TIGHT ROPE and the Tarzan swing!

This was good way to end the year and was a really fun day!!!

Abracadabra Magic show

On the 14th of November a professional magician from be bright, eat right educational show came to Oruaiti school. His stage name is Vas kolvalski.

 He did an amazing show teaching us kids about eating right and teaching us about what foods are right to eat and others that can be bad for our health! 

He had living creatures such as rabbits and doves. He also liked to play with fire he also set a few things on fire like his own arm, boxes and paper. He also asked some people to come and join him on stage. 

My favourite bit of the show was when he made the dove turn into a rabbit which blew my mind and at first I thought that the bunny was in the box the whole time but it wasn't in there the first place which bugged me! I also like the giant paper explosion that he did. he first shredded a piece of paper and before you know it, it was a giant paper explosion and flying over our head then that's when our minds blew up with amazement!

Chrome book care

For this week for cyber smart we were learning how to look after our chrome books properly!

The Torture Hike

We were learning how to create a recount.

 The Torture Hike.

I packed up my stuff to get ready for two hours of complete torture. We ended up walking the enormous Mahinepua track. I arrived at the first sign and thought to myself  that I was going to die. I continued the torture and as I looked behind me I could see millions of kids struggling to make it. We got closer and closer to our destination, more kids came running to the front to see where we were going to end up.

When we reached a split lane Whaea Meg said   “Ok now we are going to take the coastal loop”,  that's when we reached at least a thousand stairs.  I stood on every step step by step I felt my legs were going numb. I finally reached the top of the infinite staircase and my legs were aching We finally reached the end and the view was breathtaking, literally. Mr Pickard  said “ ok everybody get on your feet we are going to the very top.” all excited “And if you don't I will make you do 100 press ups.”

  Finally we meet at the 2 split signs. We sat down for morning tea and a few sips of water well for me I managed to drink all the water in one go. Once we finished, the teachers told us to pick up and get ready for the journey home and be sure to have you gear together. We had to be sure that we picked up all the food and to make sure we're not feeding the possums or other pests. stuff I said to Selwyn and told him that I will stay next to him on the journey home.

 As I made my way back to the place my legs started to ache and I felt like I was going to collapse and fall. I managed to make it back to Mahinepua beach and received a well earned swim.

Marketing and promotion

Last Thursday Mel from live wire media came to talk to us about marketing and promotion.
We learnt :
-we need to think about what our consumers want to buy
-we need to know what our target market
- we need to  think carefully about what our consumers want to buy
-we need to advertise by using language that our consumers can understand
-we need to make sure that our product is better than others
-we have to make sure our product is original/ unique/ and better than others


For market day my products are.........

My action plan is:

1. Grab and measure material from Whaea meg                                            
2. Paint the cardboard                                                              
3. Assemble the cardboard

4. Make the gear stick an steering wheel

5. Make paper mâché marbles

6. Design the posters and money tin to store the money

7. Do the accessories on  the cardboard to make it  eye appealing                                                             
8. Take some surveys on people on what types of mini marble races they want
                                                                             

Movie Mayhem 2, the sequel!!!

Today on Friday we attempted to make some movies that the class writ. We made movies using Phones and tablets. Here are some challenges we had during movie making were:  group work, Listening to demands like action, cut and camera speed. we also had trouble keeping the camera still and people sticking to their roles like everybody wanted to be the director and bossing everybody around. And because our movie that we made had mainly outside scenes and it was raining outside we had to work out in the rain. Also we had to redo tones of shots which took forever. Today my role was camera person and

This week we have been learning about pig hunting and why it's good and bad. I choose to do the negative and this is how my presentation went!

PET DAY YAY!!!!!

Yesterday was our annual PET DAY which the whole school participates in with making art and different types of delicious foods or games.  Our class was in charge of the gaming section this year and in total all together we made around $156.70.

This year I brought my Flemish giant rabbit named Sandy. She is 9 months old and love to eat her vegetables and fruits. She was almost as big as the cage that I took her in. She came 3rd place in the small pets category which was the rabbits section also there were 2 other rabbits. So it wasn't that hard to get a placing. 

I was really proud of my Rabbit and not freaking out and I enjoyed operating one of the game stalls!!

Mayhem 3, The Trilogy

Today our class Manuka made another attempt to make a movie and it wasn't just any movie it was my movie that Me and Selwyn decided on making it is called classroom karaoke. I was the camera man and our whole class were dressed in funny weird props like wigs, leis, silver chains, hats and ukuleles. It's not an ordinary class the students start to dance and the teacher doesn't know find out what happens next. Novel report

                                                    NOVEL REPORT

For the past 3 weeks, I have been reading the book: The erth dragons, the wearle, book one. This book is about Three tribes The Kaal tribe (humans), The Veng (evil dragons) and The Wearle (the good dragons). The Wearle and the Veng believe in a goddess dragon named Godith that was the first dragon born. Also since then all the baby dragons born all start with the letter G for instance Gabrial (my favourite dragon character, male dragon), Grystina (female dragon), Graymere (male dragon) and Prime Galarhade (elder dragon and male dragon).

SCIENCE TOOGETHER

Today we did Science Together. My favourite one to do was the baking soda rocket. 
First, we added 100 ml to our bottle(small one) then we made a sort of cigar looking thing with two tea spoons of baking soda then we added it to the vinegar bottle then once we shook the bottle the outside became stiff and hard then three, two, one BLAST OFF.
Mixing baking soda with vinegar causes a chemical reaction which makes a gas called carbondioxied which pushes up the rocket.

Below are some other tasks we did to day.


To make easy plastic you can use vinegar and hot milk. The scientific name for plastic is polymer. You can make cheese with the same recipe. The vinegar creates a chemical reaction what makes the milk curdle.

If you add vinegar to boiled purple cabbage water it will turn pink. If you add baking soda to the cabbage it will turn the water to the colour bluey greeny type.

You can use microscopes to look at things really close.

Used static energy to make negative or positive charges.

There are three states of matter: Liquid,Solid and Gas.

Movie Mayhem!

On the the 26th of July 2019, Manuka class and a few year 7's did some movie making.
Our WALT was : We are learning to compose different types of shots and  to follow a story board.
There was Four roles there was Editor, Director, Camera man and Actor.
The role that I played was the Director and a bit of the Editor.

Behind the scenes of Oruaiti's production!

This year for production(3rd of July) we did a play called KiaKaha Kiwi, It was about a flightless bird who wanted to fly who played by Stacey (my sister). I was a sow which is a female pig(wild). In this photo is Latiya (Me, middle), Ngatoki (Front, Left), Carlos (Second front, Left) Selwyn (Next to me) and Jason (Front right).

Cyber-smart Tangram!

We were learning how to make a tangram using the shapes that were provided. This is my cyber-smart tangram!  It is a dog. The most interesting thing was the actual shapes because there was a rhombus a lot of triangles and a square.

Survival comic strip.

We were learning to make a survival story using story board that. We also did this because we have been reading a survival story called the hatchet. This is my comic strip, it is about these two people that get stranded on a mysterious island.

2D or 3D

We were learning how to make 3D shapes using isometric paper (dotted paper).
Well this was mainly our maths, since we are getting closer to the end of the term Whaea Meg wanted to be nice to her class.
The thing that I thought that was the hardest was the actual drawing because you had to miss some and not miss some.
The fun thing was everything mainly.
