Free art

 Free art

WALT uses some of the techniques we have been learning about in ART to create our own artwork.

For art today I had the choice to choose something to draw. So I went along and drew some hands. First I started by drawing the palm of the hand and then added in some lines to mark out the fingers of the hand I am going to draw. You can position the fingers and thumb anyway you want. Then you add in the outlines for the fingers and thumb and move onto adding in the little details like the creases.

I enjoy working on making my drawing skills, especially hands and the human body. If you were to draw hands, what position would you place your fingers?

Scribble art

 Scribble art

For art we tried another style of art, this art included . . . SCRIBBLES

What I did first was outline the features like the eyes, eyebrows, nose and mouth. I also included an ear. I then started to go over these faint lines with dark bold scribbles. I then started to add in some shading with some light scribbles, I added these light scribbles all over the face (especially on the eyelids underneath the eyebrows, and on the nose etc) I then scribbled over the whole thing causing the effect that I sculpted it from some random scribbles.

This art was simple yet interesting. I actually enjoyed it. If you were to recreate this type of art, would you create a face or something else?

2 point perspective art

 2 point perspective art

The art type we have been doing lately in class is called perspective art, but this wasn’t any random perspective art we did, this was 2 point perspective. 2 point perspective art includes not only having 1 vanishing point but has 2 points. I wanted to try something different than just copying off the video that was given to us, so I decided to draw a double Decker bus.
I first found a picture of a double Decker bus from a 2 point perspective. And began  to draw the horizon line and the vertical line (the , then I started to figure out the proportions of the bus (make sure to take all the lines to the vanishing point) once I completed that I started to add more details defining the bus and its features. Once the features were added, I then began to shade and colour in the bus.

I enjoyed this piece of art and I may now declare it as my favourite style of art. If you were to attempt this art what would you draw from a 2 point perspective?

Tessellation art

 Tessellation art

WALT creates a tessellation art project and describes our learning in our Blog.

For art we did an art style being tessellation. First we had to create our shape so that we could copy the shape over and over on the piece of paper, then we had to trace over the shape onto a piece of paper creating our tessellation pattern. We then drew on the pattern and coloured it in. I found this piece of art interesting because you would usually use this type of art with maths, if you were to attempt this, what colours would you add to it and what shape would you use?

 Baked Chermoula Chicken

With Carrot Couscous & Roast Veggie Toss

You will need:

Two oven trays (large and lined)

Large frying pan

Medium sized saucepan with a lid

Ingredients:                                                                                                           Hands on: 20-30 mins

5 potatoes (medium)                                                                                                       Ready in: 25-35 mins

1 red onion (large)

Chermoula spice blend (12g)

Greek yogurt (optional / your desired amount)

Chicken breast (your desired amount)

Garlic (4 cloves)

Baby spinach leaves (optional)

1 lemon (or lemon juice from the bottle)

3 carrot (large)

Slivered almonds (optional)

Chicken stock  (powdered)

Couscous (95g)

Olive oil

Butter

2 kumara (Medium)

Salt and pepper (seasoning)

Method:                                                             Remember: Wash your hands, and veggies before cooking

Preheat your oven to 220 c

                  (Bake)

  1. First grab your chicken breasts and slice (horizontally) them in half (you can choose whether you want to slice them into bite size pieces) and place them into a medium sized bowl. Now you grab the olive oil, chermoula spice blend and salt. Add around about 3 tbsp of olive oil, add the chermoula spice blend, and around about 2 tsp of salt and add those to the bowl of chicken. Now using your hands to smoother the chicken in the spice blend, make sure that you cover each and every piece of chicken. Once they're all covered, place the bowl of chicken in the fridge.

  1. Peel your potatoes, kumara and 2 carrots. And dice them into even cubes, after that place them on the large oven tray, now dice the onions and place them in the same tray as the veggies. Now drizzle some olive oil, add some salt and crack some pepper, one you're done that, mix them up using your hands. After that place the oven tray in the oven (4th row in the oven)

  2. After the veggies have been in the oven for around 15 mins, you can take your chicken out of the fridge and get your large frying pan out (whether that's an electric frying pan or  stove top pan) And get out your 2nd large and lined tray and set aside.  Now turn the heat up on the pan to medium high heat and add a bit of olive oil to the pan, now you can add your chicken to the pan. Only cook the chicken for around 3 minutes each side. After the chicken has been briefly cooked, transfer the chicken from the pan to the lined tray. Now place the

tray on the 6th row in your oven. Cook everything in the oven for another 10-15 minutes.

  1. Time to make the couscous, peel and grate the carrot and dice the garlic. Cut around about 15g of butter and place in a medium sized pot, now place the pot on the stove top, turn the temperature on the stove to high. After the butter has melted, add in the carrots and cook until the carrots soften. After they have softened add in the garlic and cook until fragrant. Once you have done that, pour in 1 ½ cups of water, and add in the stock. Give it a quick stir. And add in the couscous, give it a quick stir and make sure to get all of the couscous. Place the lid on the pan and lower the heat to a simmer, leave this for 2-3 minutes. After that time has passed, remove the pot from the heat. And transfer to a bowl, now add in the spinach leaves and give it a quick toss.

  1. Now you can start plating up, place your couscous on the plate, and grab your roast veggies out of your oven, and place them on the plate as well, now you can get the baked chermoula chicken out and plate that up as well. Now you may enjoy this feast you have made.

Negative space pour: Blow & Kiss

Negative space pour: Blow & Kiss

W.A.L.T: How to pour, blow and kiss an acrylic painting

Introduction:

During shared book and art, Mr Pickard gave us another art project for the tops of our desktops named, Negative space pour: Blow & Kiss, with a childish like technique: using paint, straws (for the blowing part) and balloons (for the kissing part). Before we got into the project, the class (including me) had to prime our boards (meaning to put a base coat on the boards, preferably the colour white) to stop the paint from just sitting in one place and sinking into the wood.

What we did:

After that he made us watch a video showing us the techniques used in this piece of artwork, using the blow and kiss techniques. If you would like to watch the video just click the link: Negative space pour: Blow & Kiss. Then we lined our desktops with no longer needed newspaper, and we were given an ice-cream container (that we flipped upside down), a plastic cup (to hold our coloured paint), a serviette (to clean the paint off the balloon to stop the paint turning into a muddy mess), two straws (for the blowing) and a balloon (for the kissing). Then we got straight into it.

The colours that were available were: Blue, Yellow, Black, Red and White. As we lined up to collect the colours that we thought were the best, there would be an option to either add Rubbing alcohol or not (Rubbing alcohol gives your paint cells, which adds depth). First we were given a cup full of white paint to dump on our canvas (this helps your paint to spread easily on your canvas) then we lined up again to collect our coloured paint. As we went through the line, once we got our colours we would dump the colours on the canvas, then line up again for more colours. After we went through the line for paint, and we were satisfied with our colours, we went straight into the kiss and blowing techniques.

First we would of blew the paint toward the middle of the canvas, trying to spread the paint as far as we could, then we would get the balloon and start dabbing the balloon on to the paint on the canvas, and after every dab, it is best to clean your balloon with your serviette to stop the canvas from turning into a muddy mess.

Here is what my piece of artwork looks like.

Reflection:

I really liked this artwork. It was really fun and really easy to do. I really loved the outcome of my artwork. But the down side was the limit of space that we had. We only got the space on our desktops, which is really limited.

Question:

Would you like to ask me a question on my artwork, any feed forward and feed back would do.

I hope you enjoyed!

Logic maths puzzle

 WALT think outside the box

This optical illusion is a paper illusion. The illusion contains paper, Mr Pickard tricked us into doing some thing that includes maths something like some sort of logic maths puzzle or something like that. This puzzle is really confusing and can break your mind even just thinking about it but even just looking at it you mind is just twisted because you think about how could such a big piece of paper fit through such a tiny gap. But overall you are just confused.

First you have to fold your paper over length ways, then you cut 3 slits on 1 of the sides and 2 on the other. Then you just have to flip either the left or the right side clockwise and there you have it a really confusing illusion.

Through my point of view it was really confusing on how to cut it and where to as well. If you don't like getting confused I don't really recommend it?

Pointillism. First attempt at pointillism

This is my first attempt at pointillism art.
W A L T: We were learning to create a piece of artwork, If you can't see it
My pointillism artwork it is a apple (Note to self never using vivid on ANY piece
of artwork IF needed use a fine point) Pointillism
is a art style that lets you create pieces of artwork with
tiny dots put together.
and usually if you do it right it will look like a picture
from a distance.
While attempting this pre-used art technique I felt that
it was really difficult even though
I have used this a couple years back for a pet day and it
didn't help that the vivid was a bit to thick for my suit.
Even though that it may just look like a little pieces of scribbles
but in my eyes I see progress for my never learning art skills
for pointillism!

Boney the MONSTER

This is a drawing of a monster that I Drew and named Boney.

Facts about Boney:
He was created as a unicorn but the scientist making him knocked over a lever that send a radioactive gas into the pen of his creation but when he knocked it over nothing happened so he flipped the lever back up and that is when the radioactive gas was let into his pen/cage and while the scientist was struggling he flipped another lever witch let a kangaroo into the pen/cage that the unicorn was in and they started to fight because of the radioactive gas. And as they were fighting the bit at each other, ripping skin off chipping teeth, pulling out bones and damaging each others skin/fur. And as the scientist was still struggling he flipped a lever which merged the two animals together and created Boney

Apple shading

Apple shading
WALT     We are learning to drawing an object with shading and using a soft pencil

Today we were learning how to use shading properly in pictures. First we watched a video on shading, the video was teaching you how to shade and teaching you about different parts of the shading area. There are 3 different parts of shading, there is the core shading, occlusion shading and the cast shadow. The video taught us about how to control the movement of our hands and arms. It also taught us how light balances the pictures and how some lines can make the picture pop out of the piece of paper. If you want to try and draw this apple you can try your self at Shading

I think that I did really well at the drawing and the way that we had to draw an apple from a circle. I liked the way the video was easy to follow and to understand.

This is my masterpiece that I drew.

GOOD NIGHT, MARKET NIGHT

GOOD NIGHT, MARKET NIGHT!!!!

On the 29th of November we had a new annual activity called MARKET NIGHT! This is just all about making stuff good enough to sell to other people. My stall was full of games and different activities like office basketball game where you throw a ping pong ball in to a hoop, Magneto fishing where you try to fish fish in a 30 second slot and the crowds favourite POTTY TOSS were you try to throw a squishy poop toy into a cardboard box shaped toilet then you win a ticket like all the other games.

My class also sold scrunchies, Toffee apples, Flax star magnets, Art cards and Cookie jars.

My favourite part of market night was seeing all of the joy on the peoples faces!!

Abracadabra Magic show

On the 14th of November a professional magician from be bright, eat right educational show came to Oruaiti school. His stage name is Vas kolvalski.
He did an amazing show teaching us kids about eating right and teaching us about what foods are right to eat and others that can be bad for our health!
He had living creatures such as rabbits and doves. He also liked to play with fire he also set a few things on fire like his own arm, boxes and paper. He also asked some people to come and join him on stage.
My favourite bit of the show was when he made the dove turn into a rabbit which blew my mind and at first I thought that the bunny was in the box the whole time but it wasn't in there the first place which bugged me! I also like the giant paper explosion that he did. he first shredded a piece of paper and before you know it, it was a giant paper explosion and flying over our head then that's when our minds blew up with amazement!

THANK YOU VAS KOLVALSKI WITH THE BE BRIGHT EAT RIGHT EDUCATIONAL MAGIC SHOW! AND WE HOPE YOU COME BACK SOON!!!!
